Happy Father's Day!

For many coin collectors, there is a family connection. When I was little, my father was an avid coin collector, and that's where I got my start, searching through rolls of pennies looking for Wheat Cents to put into the blue Whitman albums. As I got a bit older, I would help him out on weekends cutting down trees and doing other odd jobs to earn a little bit of extra cash. After these jobs, we would always grab a hearty lunch and then we would go down to our local coin shop, Little Rhody Coins in North Providence. While my father always stuck to American coins, I always had an affinity for the coins of Canada and other worldwide coinage. I cannot thank my father enough for exposing me to this wonderful hobby at such a young age!

I am sure many of you have your own stories, and there is still plenty of time to get some younger collectors into the hobby! Whether your children, grandchildren or nieces and nephews, numismatics is a stellar inter-generational hobby that allows one to travel the world and time without leaving the house!
